Celebrating 5 Years of Ohio Roasting Company

Five years.

Five years of roasting coffee, early mornings, busy Saturdays, new faces becoming familiar ones, countless drinks made, lessons learned, friendships formed, and a community that has supported us every step of the way.

When we first opened the doors to Ohio Roasting Company, we had a vision for what we wanted this place to become. We wanted to create great coffee, roast it ourselves, and build a space where people genuinely enjoyed spending their time.

What we couldn't have known then was just how much this little coffee shop would grow or how many incredible people would become part of its story.

As we celebrate five years, we've found ourselves looking around the shop and thinking about just how much has happened within these walls.

From an Idea to Our Coffee Shop

Before there were morning regulars, seasonal drink launches, busy drive-thru lines, bags of freshly roasted coffee on the shelves, or baristas behind the counter, there was simply an idea.

We wanted to create a coffee shop centered around really good, freshly roasted coffee and a welcoming atmosphere. A place that felt local because it truly was local.

Then came the work.

There was planning, construction, learning, problem-solving, and plenty of moments where we had to figure things out as we went. Eventually, the idea we'd talked about for so long became real.

We opened the doors. And you walked through them.

A First Day We'll Never Forget

If there was ever a sign of what was to come, it was opening day.

The line stretched all the way into our roasting room, we ran out of things faster than we could have imagined, and multiple trips to the store had to be made just to keep us going. We were in no way prepared for the amount of support that showed up that day.

Our entire family jumped in wherever they could—bussing tables, washing dishes, helping behind the bar, and doing whatever needed to be done to get through the rush.

It was chaotic, overwhelming, and one of the most special days we've had.

Five years later, we're still incredibly thankful for every person who stood in that line and gave a brand-new local coffee shop a chance.

Five Years of Growing

If you visited us during our first year and walked in today, there are plenty of things you might recognize and plenty that have changed.

We've introduced new drinks, expanded our menu, created seasonal traditions, added new food, experimented with new coffees, welcomed new team members, and continued learning what it means to run and grow a local coffee shop.

Growth isn't always about getting bigger. Sometimes it's about getting better at what you do, learning what matters to your customers, strengthening your team, and continuing to create a place you're proud to put your name on.

Five years later, we're still doing exactly that.

The Coffee Is Still at the Heart of It

A lot has changed over five years, but one thing hasn't: our love for coffee.

Roasting our own coffee has always been at the heart of Ohio Roasting Company.

And for us, roasting is especially personal. With a father-son roasting team behind the roaster, coffee has become part of our family's story too.

To Our Baristas, Past and Present

Five years of Ohio Roasting Company wouldn't exist without the people who have stood behind the counter.

To every barista and team member who has been part of our story: thank you.

Thank you for the early mornings, the weekend rushes, the drinks you've made, the new recipes you've learned, the counters you've wiped approximately a million times, and the customers you've welcomed.

You've brought your own personalities, talents, friendships, and energy into this shop.

Some of you have been here for a season of life before moving on to something new. Others have grown with us for years. No matter how long you've been part of the team, you've left a piece of yourself here.

And something we're especially proud of? Bethany and Haley have been with us since we opened our doors five years ago. They've experienced the growth, changes, crazy days, new ideas, and everything in between right alongside us.

Our customers don't just come back because of what's in their cup. They come back because of the people handing it to them.

And we're incredibly grateful for ours.

To North Canton and Our Community

There really is something special about owning a small business in a community that believes in supporting local.

Over the last five years, we've gotten to know other local business owners, participate in community events, support local organizations, celebrate schools and teachers, collaborate with other businesses, and become more connected to the place we call home.

Every time you choose a locally owned business, you're supporting real people.

You're supporting families, employees, ideas, dreams, and a community.

We've experienced that support firsthand for five years, and it's something we'll never take for granted.

Here's to the Next Five

As proud as we are of the last five years, we're even more excited to see where this place can go next.

We want to continue growing our roastery, expand what we're able to do with coffee, keep coming up with creative ideas, stay involved in the community that has supported us, and continue learning along the way.

Mostly, we want to see just how much more this little idea can grow.

To our family, our team, our regulars, our fellow local businesses, and everyone who has walked through our doors over the last five years:

Thank you.

Thank you for standing in that opening-day line. Thank you for waiting in the drive-thru. Thank you for trying our crazy seasonal drink ideas, buying our coffee, telling your friends about us, showing up for our events, supporting our team, and continuing to choose a locally owned coffee shop.

Five years ago, we couldn't believe the support that showed up on opening day.

Five years later, we still can't.

Cheers to 5 years, North Canton. We can't wait to see what's next. ☕
